Data and Performance
How do we ensure your child is receiving the very best education possible?

As a new academy school, we have not yet been inspected by Ofsted and MANY changes have occurred since the last inspection in January 2017, which can be viewed here.
We have a robust self-evaluation system in place and constantly strive for excellence.

Art and Design at Kiveton Park Meadows Junior School
At Kiveton Park Meadows, our Art and Design curriculum is an integral part of our learning journey. We aim to inspire creativity, develop artistic skills, and nurture an appreciation of art in all its forms across the school.

Our Goals

Through our carefully structured curriculum, we encourage children to explore their creativity, develop individual artistic skills, and deepen their understanding of art. Our aim is for pupils to gain the confidence to make thoughtful artistic choices, evaluate their own work and that of others, and work increasingly independently.

Why Art Matters

Art is not just about technique; it helps children express themselves, think critically, and develop a sense of individuality. By engaging with a wide range of artistic experiences, pupils enhance their creativity, cultural awareness, and problem-solving skills—qualities that benefit them both in school and beyond.

Our Art Curriculum

Art at Kiveton Park Meadows is taught through themed units, skills development tasks, and creative projects, allowing children to apply what they have learned. The curriculum covers a progression of skills throughout the school years, ensuring each child builds on prior knowledge and experiences.

How Art is Taught

We combine teaching of artistic skills with subject knowledge. Lessons take place both in the classroom and outdoors, allowing children to explore and create in varied environments.

Artists and Inspiration

Pupils are introduced to a range of artists from different periods and backgrounds, encouraging inspiration, reflection, and understanding of artistic diversity. Examples include:
-
Jack Kirby
-
Romero Britto
-
Jackson Pollock
-
Vincent Van Gough
-
Julie Taymor
What We Learn

Children explore a wide variety of media, including:
-
Drawing and painting
-
Sculpture and 3D forms
-
Collage and textiles
-
Photography and mixed media
Supporting Every Learner

Our Art curriculum is designed to be inclusive. Adaptations for children with additional needs, including those with SEND, may include larger paintbrushes, textured pencil grips, and hands-on sensory activities such as clay modelling or tactile collages. These adaptations ensure all children can fully engage and enjoy the creative process.
