Welcome to Magellan class
The Portuguese-born navigator, Ferdinand Magellan, was one of the great explorers of his era - the first European to cross the Pacific Ocean, he also played a crucial role in the first circumnavigation of the world. Did you know that Magellan named the ocean the Pacific? He chose this name, meaning 'peaceful', because it was calm and pleasant when he entered it.

Autumn Term - Mission Control, Go With The Flow, You're Not Invited
We start the year with a communication project, Mission Control, that looks the Earth and beyond.
Go With The Flow, a science based theme, focuses on life processes such as the circulatory system.
Lastly, we move on to the conflict driver with You're Not Invited. We take a look at the concept of invasion, with a particular focus on the Romans.

The first project of the Spring term is Pharoah Queen, which looks at the inspirational life of Hatshepsut.
Our culture theme is Come Fly With Me! America, an exploration of the history and geography or North and Central America.
The Rescuers, tells the story of two of the lesser-known heroes of the Titanic – Molly Brown and Harold Bride.
Summer Term - Full of Beans, Been Around the World
The first topic of the Summer term has a conservation theme. Full of Beans has a geography focus and includes an enterprise project.
Finally, Been Around the World , explores the links between the UK and Hong Kong.
The Year 5/6 topics are so engaging and we will make sure we share their learning journey with you regularly.
