World Book Day 2018

World Book Day March 2018

Due to the snow we held our World Book Day on Friday 9th March this year. The children and staff came to school dressed up as their favourite book characters and everyone looked amazing! Many of the costumes were based on characters from our Reading Challenge, which was wonderful to see. Two lucky winners were selected from each class to receive a book prize (What a hard decision that was!)

At lunchtime there was a bring and buy ‘book and bun’ sale organised by our reading stars which was a huge success. There was a real buzz in the hall as children sat and read their new books with their friends.

In the afternoon, the children took part in some DEAR time (Drop Everything And Read!) Even the teachers had the opportunity to join in and read one of their Reading Challenge books!

Thank you to everyone for supporting our World Book Day this year. In total we raised £230 and this money will be going towards an author or illustrator visit here at KPMJ next term. Well done to all the children who have brought in their ‘Caught Reading’ photographs. If you haven’t sent one in yet, there’s still time as the closing date will be after the Easter holidays on Friday 13th April. I will be selecting a book prize for the winning photograph in each class.

Thank you for making our World Book Day an enjoyable day! smiley
