Welcome to the Lemur Class! (Class 3JG)

Welcome Class 3JG to Kiveton Park Meadows Junior School! We are the Lemurs!

Our class theme
Our class name this year is the Lemur Class, but there is another class theme that you will notice when you come into the classroom in September smiley The theme for our class this year is 'Finding Dory'. Our class mascot is Dory, who will be keeping an eye on your excellent attitude, behaviour and fantastic work that you produce throughout the year.

Please read below some useful information about this upcoming term.

Spring Term 2022 - 'On the Move'

Happy New Year!

This Spring term, we are having a Science focus where we will be looking at the topic of 'Animals, including Humans'. In this topic, we will be studying the human skeleton and understanding its importance, as well as conducting a Science investigation. As part of our Science learning, we will also look at the food groups which can help to maintain a healthy body and mind. This links well to our DT project, where we will research, produce and evaluate a nutritious snack.

Our learning will also be taking place outside as we venture into our school grounds for our Winter walks.

A reminder that our PE days are on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Please come into school in your PE kit on these days. PE kit includes: white t-shirt, black or navy jogging bottoms, black or navy shorts and a jacket/hoodie/fleece, as we will be continuing to do PE outside.

READING AT HOME: As a school, we are very passionate about reading and host lots of exciting challenges for children to achieve through the Reading Challenge, where children can earn a Bronze, Silver and Gold badge. In Class 3JG, children should aim to read out loud to an adult at least 5 times a week so that their fluency and accuracy can continue to be maintained. Remember to bring in your reading book on Mondays if it needs changing and to also get your reading sticker to show that you have read 5 times.

SPELLING AND TIMES TABLE HOMEWORK: Children will have a list of spellings to learn and practice a set times table, which they will be tested on every Friday. Children will receive new spellings and a times table to learn for the next test on Friday as well.

Please find in the folder below previous examples of outstanding homework that has been produced in previous years. The effort, standard and excellent quality that has been produced has been fantastic! It certainly shows the children's thirst for learning and I hope that you will also enjoy trying some of these interesting tasks this term. Please have a look and see which activities interest you, but it is by no means compulsory. If you have any questions, then please do not hesitate to ask. I look forward to seeing what you produce this term!

If you have any questions or you're unsure about anything, please do not hesitate to come and speak to me.
