With Mrs Hall, Mrs Hughes and Mr Kitchen
This year, every class in school has been given a new name and we are the Jaguars! In the Autumn term, we will be learning about this intriguing animal and its habitat (which links very well with our geography topic in the Summer term too!). As I mentioned in my video, if you would like to find out more about this creature over the summer holidays, that would be great! Don't forget to bring your work to show me when we return back to school in September (I'm sure you can start earning some diligence dots)!
Adopting a Jaguar
To link in with our class name and to help protect these threatened animals, we will be adopting our very own jaguar from the WWF. Animal adoptions like this give the WWF a huge boost to their work. They not only help fund projects to work with local communities to monitor jaguar movements and help protect their habitat but also fund our other vital work around the world.
We will receive lots of information and updates about our adopted jaguar throughout the year. :o)
Our class mascot
Our class mascot this year is obviously a cuddly version of our adopted Jaguar.
He will be lurking at the front of the classroom, watching you work really hard and listening to your fantastic questions and answers!
I wonder if you'll be able to find out why his name is Jaxson? I'll give you a clue, it has something to do with one of my favourite subjects...PE/Sports!
Our Class Theme
Our class name this year is the Jaguar Class but there is another theme that you will notice when you enter the classroom in September....Disney! What is your favourite Disney film? Why? You might even spot some of your favourite characters dotted around the classroom!
Over the lockdown period, I decided to try to improve my art skills and I started drawing some well-known Disney characters following tutoritals on Youtube. I really enjoyed doing this and I am so proud of the work that I produced - you'll be able to see some of my work in the classroom! Why not have a go at drawing your disney character over the summer holidays too?
Autumn Term 2020
Our exciting history topic this coming term is based on World War One. During this term we will be learning about: how the war started; which countries were involved in the war; how long the war lasted and what it was like for people living in those times (particularly in our local area/village). We will also be learning about the history of Kiveton and what our village was once like, specifically between the years 1914-1918.
Our class novel is Private Peaceful by Michael Morpurgo and I know that you're going to love this!
During the Autumn term, we will also be learning about the heart and the circulatory system in science, and in PE, we will be doing cross country and learning about some of the fundamentals.
I am looking forward to seeing you all in September and working with you!
Have a lovely summer holiday!
Mrs Hall :o)
