Reading at home - a message for parents

All the children in my class know that I love reading and I want to share my love of books with them. I encourage children to read everyday if possible, if they read at least five times in a week they earn one point on the Reading Quest. When they have read at home they will ask you to sign their 'Home Reading Record' so they can show me or Mrs Gill that they have read. The aim is to earn as many points as possible in the term. Please help your child by signing their home reading record. If children don't have time to read at home I do offer to stay with them in class at lunch time for five or ten minutes so that they can do some reading. Some children like to stay to read anyway or they can choose to go to the School Library between 12:30 and 12:55.

Every Friday the children take home their Reading Challenge book. They can choose one of the challenges to do about the book they are currently reading. Please ask your child to show you their book.

We have a wonderful group of parent volunteers who come into school each week to read with children. If you would like to do this too then please have a word with me.
